Teen with ovarian cancer needs money for cure

While some teenagers her age preoccupy their time with trivial pursuits, 16-year-old Jennifer Madridano has been battling cancer.

For the past two years, she has been shuttling back and forth between the hospital and her house, forcing her to give up her studies.

At the age of 14, Jennifer was operated on for a tumor in her ovary, according to her mother, Maribel.

She has since been undergoing chemotherapy at Philippine General Hospital to prevent the spread of the tumor.

On March 28, Jennifer will go through the fourth of six chemotherapy sessions. Each one costs P28,000, an amount that the earnings of her father, Ricky, who is a basketball coach, can barely cover.

For this reason, Maribel is appealing for help from Inquirer readers. “Hopefully, with God’s help, Jennifer will be able to enroll again in June as a third-year student,” she said.

Maribel can be contacted at 0927-2508569. Donations for her daughter may be deposited in her Metrobank account (account name Maribel Madridano, account number 5963596027670).
