LIGAO CITY — After two years of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, folks in Tiwi town in Albay province are celebrating the Coron Festival again this year since it was started 16 years ago.

After a Mass on Friday, August 5, spectators enjoyed the civic and float parade highlighting the town’s culture and its main trade of pottery-making.

The local government unit, in partnerhip with the Department of Trade and Industry, also organized a trade fair called Disenyo Ceramika which showcased the locals’ ceramic products at the SM Mall in Legazpi City, Albay’s capital. Visitors were given the chance to experience pottery-making from molding, cutting and painting the finished product for a fee of only P350.

“This is one way of helping the ceramic artisans in promoting their genuine products and of course attract more tourists,” Albay Governor Noel Rosal said.

The Coron Festival, which started on Friday and will end on August 26, will also feature concerts, parades, sporting events, and religious activities.
