171 families affected by flood in Antique get cash assistance from DSWD

At least 171 families who were affected by floods in Antique have received P3,000 each from the government on Monday.

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — At least 171 families affected by floods in Antique received P3,000 each from the government on Monday.

Melrose Amaran, team leader of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Antique, said the government allocated P513,000 in financial aid to 51 families in the municipality of Hamtic and 120 families in San Jose de Buenavista town.

On August 4, an additional 120 families in the municipality of Sibalom are also expected to receive financial assistance from the government.

Last Saturday, families stayed in evacuation centers due to non-stop rains and floods brought about by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by Tropical Depression “Ester.”

One of the victims whose house got damaged received food packs, blankets, and building materials, said Jason Alagos, one of the provincial social workers.
