The agency is likewise eyeing the conduct of a demonstration run of the MRT-7 next year.

“Nag-umpisa na ang delivery ng mga tren para sa MRT-7 nitong nakaraang taon at magpapatuloy ang delivery at construction na ‘yan nitong mga susunod na taon,” Transportation Undersecretary Timothy Batan said on Wednesday’s Laging Handa public briefing.

(The delivery of trains for the MRT-7 started last year and the delivery and construction will continue in the following years.)

“So nakikita natin at tina-target natin na magkaroon ng tinatawag nating demonstration run para sa ating MRT-7 nitong 2023, at full operations ang ating tinitingnan para sa 2024 to 2025,” he continued.

(So we are seeing and targeting to have what we call a demonstration run for the MRT-7 this 2023, and full operations are eyed by 2024 to 2025.)

The construction of the MRT-7 is around 60 percent complete, according to Batan.

The 22-kilometer rail line will connect North Avenue in Quezon City and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan.

Once completed, the 14-station rail system will shorten travel time from North Avenue to San Jose del Monte to 35 minutes from the current two to three hours. With reports from Andy Hoo, INQUIRER.net intern
