BAGUIO CITY—The flood in three barangays on Monday, August 1, damaged at least 17 hectares of farmland in Lamut town, Ifugao province.
In a phone interview Tuesday, Lamut Mayor Victomar Bunnol said the affected vegetable and rice farms were in Barangays Bimpal, Nayon, and Payawan.
He said the municipal agriculture office had yet to determine the cost of the damage.
The mayor said no casualties were reported during and in the aftermath of the flash flood that began on Monday afternoon and subsided in the evening of the same day.
Bunnol said some families sought refuge in safe places at the height of the flooding, “but they all returned home.”
“The floods have receded, and we have enough supplies of basic needs for our affected residents,” he added. INQ
