‘No. 1 most wanted’ for statutory rape in Davao Del Norte nabbed
MANILA, Philippines – The “top one most wanted individual” in Davao del Norte for statutory rape has been arrested, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
PNP officer-in-charge, Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the police in Region 11 arrested 21-year-old Denmar Sinoy on August 1, in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte.
Danao added that the suspect was identified as the top one most wanted in the regional and provincial levels, and is the top six most wanted in the municipal level.
Police said the order for Sinoy’s arrest was issued by Judge Lope Calio of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 33 in Davao City, Davao Del Sur, for the crime of Qualified Statutory Rape.
“He’s been in hiding before he was arrested,” Danao said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The court was already informed of his capture and the suspect will now face the charges lodged against him in court,” he added. – Christine Annie Asistio, INQUIRER.net intern
