Housing Act turns 20 with exhibit

TO mark the 20th anniversary of Republic Act 7279, otherwise known as the Urban Housing and Development Act (UDHA), a week-long celebration is organized by the Cebu City Council Committee on Housing, Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, Philippine Partner for Support Service Agencies (PPSSA), United Kingdom – Aid and Kaabag sa Sugbo, in partnership with the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association-Central Visayas and Ayala Center Cebu.

A photo exhibit depicting the theme “UDHA @ 20: Celebrating the gains, mapping out the challenges” will be launched today at 1 p.m. at the Ayala Center Cebu.

Tomorrow, March 20, the Philippine Commission for the Urban Poor will hold an orientation on UHDA. On March 21, the Urban Poor Alliance will hold an urban poor assembly.

The celebration will be capped by an Urbanization Summit on March 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CAP Theater on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City. Topics to be discussed are the urban-rural link, population, migration, informal settlers and the problem on land and housing.
