Capiz gov’t checks quarry sites after suspension of operations
ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The provincial government of Capiz on Monday inspected quarry sites in the province upon the order of Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro.
The inspections took place after the governor released a suspension order to all quarry operators on July 11.
Requirements such as Environmental Compliance Certificate, Sales and Inventory Report of Quarry Resources, and other important documents were scrutinized.
Based on the investigation, few operators were found to have secured their permits. However, upon checking, taxes that went to the province were insufficient in the last three years.
