MANILA, Philippines — Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol, the suspect in the killing of former Lamitan mayor Rose Furigay and two others, has pleaded “not guilty” to charges of illegal possession of firearms and malicious mischief.

These cases against Yumol were filed before the Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC) Branch 133. September 5 is the date set for the pre-trial.

Aside from the illegal possession of firearms and malicious mischief cases, Yumol is also facing three counts of murder for the death of Furigay, her aide Victor Capistrano, and Ateneo de Manila University security guard Jeneven Bandiala.

One count of frustrated murder was likewise filed in court against Yumol as Furigay’s daughter, Hannah Rose Marian, was also injured in the incident last July 24, a few hours before the commencement exercises at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City. Hannah Rose Marian was among the graduating students.

The arraignment on these four cases is scheduled for August 4.
