DepEd working with LGUs to clear out schools used as quarantine facilities
MANILA, Philippines — As the resumption of classes approaches, the Department of Education (DepEd) is working with local governments to clear public schools used as quarantine facilities.
DepEd spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa said they are still asking for the figures regarding the number of schools used as quarantine facilities during the country’s battle against COVID-19.
“Yes,” Poa said in a press briefing when asked if DepEd would support removing quarantine facilities in public schools.
“We are asking for the numbers kung ilan ba talaga yung schools na ginagamit pa ring quarantine facility. But we are trying to coordinate with the LGUs to make sure na ma-clear out natin ang mga ito para makapag-balik eskwela tayo sa August 22,” he added.
(We want to know how many schools are still being used for quarantine. However, we are working with the LGUs to clear these schools out so that face-to-face classes can resume on August 22.)
The 2022-2023 academic year is set to begin on August 22, as announced by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte.
