MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday announced it has already recorded two cases of the BA.2.75 Omicron subvariant of COVID-19 in the country.
The two cases were recorded in Central Visayas, and have already been tagged as recoveries, according to DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in a media briefing.
One individual, said Vergeire, was only partially vaccinated while the other was unvaccinated.
“At the moment, the exposure of individuals, travel histories and health status are being verified,” said Vergeire.
The Omicron sublineage, also called “Centaurus,” is said to be highly transmissible than its counterparts. However, Vergeire said that evidence on its severity is still lacking.
