SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — Iloilo City has cemented itself as the “Bike Capital of the Philippines” after successfully hosting the Iloilo Bike Festival 2022 on Sunday, July 31.

Salvador Sarabia, director of the Iloilo City Meetings Incentives Conventions Events (Mice) Center, said being considered as the “Bike Capital of the Philippines” can be a source of pride for the Ilonggos and the country.

Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) chief operating officer Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones stressed that the joint effort to promote bike tourism in the city will bring people to seek more outdoor activities, allowing them to go to famous locations, and be able to taste the unique culinary flavors of the communities after their bike rides.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas praised the city government through the Mice Center for its successful marketing campaign centered on the Iloilo City Network to entice people to be part of the experience of the city’s bike pathways.

The city’s bike lane spans 11 kilometers.

Iloilo City was declared the country’s “most bike-friendly city” during the 2018 PhilBike Expo at the World Trade Center Manila.
