MANILA, Philippines — The magnitude 7.0 earthquake that rocked Abra and swayed other parts of Luzon last week has affected 381,614 people and damaged P704.4 million in infrastructures.
This was according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) report on Monday, which also stated that these affected individuals translate to 100,665 families from the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The 200-plus-page report likewise indicated that infrastructure damage from the powerful earthquake had already reached P704,491,498.76 in the three northern regions.
The NDRRMC reported Monday that the verified number of deaths due to the earthquake remained at 10 while injuries climbed to 394.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology earlier classified as a “major earthquake,” the strong quake that hit Abra last July 27. It also warned that it might cause aftershocks for several days and even up to months.
