Elderly man nabbed for illegal guns in Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY—A 73-year-old farmer was arrested on Sunday for illegal firearms in Milagros town in Masbate.

Juanito Aragon, was arrested during a search operation around 6:30 a.m. in Barangay Bonbon, Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson said Monday.

The police officers served a search warrant issued on July 22 by Judge Teofilo Tambago of the Regional Trial Court Branch 46 in Masbate City.

Police recovered two caliber .38 guns with six live bullets, a caliber 22 rifle with a magazine with four rounds of live bullets, a homemade automatic caliber 22, and two dilapidated caliber .38.

Assorted live bullets were also confiscated, including 10 pieces for caliber 30;  38 rounds for caliber 40; 20 rounds for caliber .45; and 13 rounds for caliber 9 mm.

They also recovered two fired cartridges for caliber 30, a magazine for M16 rifle loaded with 13 rounds of live bullets, a plastic magazine loaded with 10 rounds of live bullets for M16, two steel short magazines for M16, an empty magazine for Carbine, a caliber .38 cylinder inserted with a fired cartridge, and four barrels for a caliber 22 rifle. Aragon will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. INQ
