TUGUEGARAO CITY — City Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday (July 31).

The mayor, who is now isolated, has confirmed the development in a Facebook post. Que told Inquirer she continues to work as she is asymptomatic.

The mayor had submitted herself for antigen testing last July 28 and 29 which both came back negative.

But she decided to isolate herself Saturday, July 30 and took another antigen test and a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) test, which confirmed Sunday that she was infected with the viral disease.

“All the health protocols are in place and we have already commenced with the contact tracing. Instructions for the disinfection of the Mayor’s Office and the common areas of the City Hall have been done as well,” she said.

Que said she apologizes for the inconvenience this may bring to the people we were in close contact with during the course of transactions for the government and the people.

She said that “those that have not yet been called or believe themselves to have been in close contact with me the past few days to contact Dr. James Guzman for testing.”

“Transactions in the City Government of Tuguegarao remain as usual with the observance of the minimum health protocol as prescribed by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force). The Office of the City Mayor will continue to provide services to our people as I will perform my duties and responsibilities remotely,” she added.

Que said: “May this serve as a reminder to everyone to remain careful and observant of health and safety protocols. Please include us and our city in your prayers.”
