Drug suspect gunned down in Rizal town

LUCENA CITY — A drug suspect was shot and killed early Sunday, July 31, in Taytay town in Rizal province, police said.

The Police Regional Office 4-A reported that an unidentified male approached Eriza Agub while she was standing on the roadside in Barangay (village) Sta. Ana around 3:30 a.m.

Without provocation, the suspect shot Agub once with a handgun and then fled on foot. The victim died on the spot.

Based on information from Agub’s immediate family, “the victim was involved in the illegal drug trade,” the police report said.

The police are conducting investigations to unmask the killer.

Meanwhile, police arrested a former drug convict in a buy-bust operation in Lucena City on Saturday, July 30.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Reyes, Lucena cops chief, reported that anti-narcotics agents collared Manolito Golvin, 56, after he sold shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer acting as a drug user in Barangay Dalahican around 6:39 a.m.

Authorities confiscated three plastic sachets of meth worth P23,052 in the street market.

The report tagged the suspect as an identified drug pusher in the coastal village who was included on the drug watchlist.

The police said Golvin was previously convicted on drug charges but did not state why and when he was freed.

The suspect is now back in jail and facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
