LEGAZPI CITY — Camarines Sur Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte has ordered on Saturday, July 30, the preemptive evacuation of families affected by flooding due to heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Depression “Ester.”
In a memorandum released on Saturday afternoon, Villafuerte said local officials in Iriga City and the towns of Nabua, Baao and Buhi were directed to conduct the preemptive evacuation of families living in flood and landslide-prone areas.
Disaster officials were reminded of observing the minimum health protocols during the evacuation of the families.
Gremil Alexis Naz, Office of Civil Defense Bicol spokesperson, said in a report that as of 8 p.m., the spillways in the villages of Sta. Elena and Malawag in Nabua town were still flooded and impassable.
In Baao town, the floodwater also rendered the spillways impassable in Baras going to Sagrada and Pugay Waras going to Iriga City.
The spillway in the village of Iyagan going to San Vicente was damaged and still not passable.
In Buhi, the road in the village of Burocbusoc to Iriga City was flooded but became passable at 11 a.m. Saturday.
