CQCU extends streak
THE Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) FC stretched its winning streak in the United Football League (UFL) Second Division Tournament to five with a 4-1 demolition of Union Internacional Manila yesterday at the University of Makati football field.
Despite having divided the team into two, with one team left here in Cebu to see action in the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup semifinals, CQCU still came out strong by winning both of its matches.
While their teammates in Manila won, the CQCU A here in Cebu also advanced to the finals of the men’s open of the Aboitiz Football Cup. (see separate story)
In the UFL, Union Internacional Manila scored the first goal by Ivan Meilan in the 27th minute.
CQCU’s new recruit Ryan Enrique Hemida scored the equalizer 12 minutes later. After two minutes, Rene Menchavez Jr. put the Cebuano team on top with his contribution.
In the second half, CQCU’s top scorer Dan Marnel Villarico scored his 9th goal in the tournament just two minutes in the second half and stretched his team’s lead to two at 3-1.
