13 die of dengue fever in Iloilo
ILOILO, Philippines – At least 13 persons have died of dengue fever in Iloilo province within the month.
The latest deaths include a 13-year-old girl from Alimodian town and a 16-year-old girl from Guimbal town, according to the Iloilo Provincial Health Office.
The other fatalities were from the towns of Barotac Nuevo, Dingle, Guimbal, Igbaras, Dumangas, Leganes, Miag-ao, Passi City, Miag-ao, and Sta. Barbara.
As of Saturday, Iloilo province has 1,417 dengue cases.
“Many of our patients thought they were just dealing with normal fever, that was why it took them days before bringing they consulted doctors,” said Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, head of Department of Health in Western Visayas’s Integrated Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention and Control Program Sector.
