MANILA, Philippines — Property developer Jose Acuzar took his oath Friday as secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. administered Acuzar’s oath at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.
Acuzar is the brother-in-law of Paquito Ochoa Jr., who served as executive secretary during the administration of late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The new housing chief, who hailed from Balanga town in Bataan, was born on June 19, 1955.
He took up architecture at the Technological Institute of the Philippines.
Acuzar started as a draftsman at Tondo Foreshore Redevelopment Project in 1975 and became a contractor in the 1980s before establishing New San Jose Builders Inc. (NSJBI).
