Quezon logs 35 new COVID-19 patients
LUCENA CITY—Quezon province continues to record an increasing trend of COVID-19 cases, with 35 new infected patients on Wednesday, July 27, the highest single-day tally in recent months.
The latest data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) show that 28 of 41 towns in the province have active virus carriers, which jumped to 144.
On June 3, only Lucena City, the capital of Quezon, had active COVID-19 cases, with two recorded infected residents then.
The 28 municipalities with COVID-19 infected residents were Tayabas City (27 cases), Candelaria (15), Lucena City (14), Mauban (13), Pagbilao (11), Sariaya (10), Tiaong (6), and Atimonan (5).
The towns of Lucban and Padre Burgos have four active cases each; Catanauan, Unisan, Alabat, Gumaca and Quezon (3 each); Polillo, Dolores, San Antonio, General Luna, Calauag, Lopez, and Plaridel (2 each); Jomalig, Sampaloc, Agdangan, Mulanay, San Andres, and Guinayangan (1 each).

Article continues after this advertisementSome infected patients have been admitted to several hospitals, while most were under home quarantine.
Dr. Maria Graciela Derada-De Leon, Tayabas City health officer, said their 27 infected patients were fully vaccinated.
“All mild cases and no need for hospitalization,” she said in an interview Thursday, July 28.
This July, Quezon has logged 369 new cases, 239 recoveries, and five deaths.
In June, the province recorded only 52 COVID-19 cases, May (14), April (21), March (88), and February (772).
The Department of Health placed Lucena and Alabat under alert level 1, the most lenient in the five-tier alert status, until July 31.
The rest of Quezon’s 39 localities remain under alert level 2.
