MANILA, Philippines — Full-grown marijuana plants valued at P111.6 million were uprooted and burned by anti-narcotics operatives in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Wednesday, said the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP Public Information Officer Brigadier General Roderick Alba, in a statement, detailed that the illegal drugs were discovered by its drug enforcement unit in three separate plantation sites across the villages of Tuglao, which yielded marijuana amounting to P24 million, and Loccong, where P87.6 million of the same substance was found.
“These illegal plants were burned and destroyed immediately while our personnel are now searching for those responsible for these wide marijuana plantations,” PNP officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. said.
