Teenage boy dies after being hit by train in Laguna

LUCENA CITY – An 18-year-old boy died on Monday (July 25) after he was hit by a passing Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province, police said Tuesday (July 26).

Laguna police said John Franklin Minero, a resident of the city, was walking along the steel track in Barangay (village) Pooc at around 11:30 p.m. when he was hit by the train, which consequently ran him over. The victim died on the spot.

It was not known how the victim failed to hear the oncoming train.

The police were conducting further investigations.
