LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol has recorded a sustained increase in COVID-19 cases in the weekly monitoring since July.
From 82 cases in the morbidity week 26 (June 26 to July 2) monitoring, the agency recorded 121 cases in the morbidity week 27 and 218 cases in morbidity week 28.
In the latest report released on Monday, the DOH Bicol recorded 313 new cases in the morbidity week 29 (July 17 to 23) monitoring.
The agency earlier attributed the increase to the continuous decline of compliance of minimum public health standards and low booster rates.
On Tuesday, the DOH Bicol Center for Health Development launched the “Pinaslakas,” a revitalized government campaign for COVID-19 vaccination at Daraga North Central School in Daraga town in Albay.
It aims to administer booster shots to at least 50 percent of the eligible population and 90 percent of senior citizens in the first 100 days of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.
Health workers would implement vaccination drives in malls, markets, terminals, plazas, places of worship, schools and other workplaces.
DOH Bicol partnered with other agencies and the local government units to boost the COVID-19 vaccination.
