Wanted man, his son and brother nabbed for drugs, guns in Cotabato City

MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested three persons – a father, his son, and his brother – who yielded illegal drugs and firearms following a search of their residence in Cotabato City.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), law enforcers launched an operation to serve a search warrant on the house of Jimmy Demisingin Talimbo, 64, and his son Mohar Sepi Talimbo, 34, in Brgy. Dungo-an, M’lang town on Monday.

The PNP said in a statement that the operation conducted by M’lang Municipal Police Station in coordination with the 12th Regional Office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 12) resulted in the recovery of 12 grams of suspected “shabu” or crystal meth and one Colt M16 rifle, one Bushmaster, and two long steel magazines containing live 5.56 Caliber from Jimmy and Mohar, a district provincial guard.

Suspect Nasrudin Ugpang Talimbo, 41, who was also in the house during the police search, yielded a .45 caliber pistol loaded with seven live ammunitions, two fired cartridge cases of .45 caliber pistol, and one short plastic magazine of 5.56 caliber containing 16 live ammunitions, it added.

But PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said in the same statement that Jimmy has a pending case for murder – thus, a wanted person.

Police Lt. Col. Ma. Joyce Birrey, of the PNP’s Regional Public Information Office 12, said Nasrudin was likewise arrested because he allegedly tried to obstruct the implementation of the law enforcement operation. She said Nasrudin will be facing criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and obstruction of justice.

Birrey further said that additional criminal complaints for violation of RA 10591, RA 9516 for Illegal/Unlawful Possession of instruments used in the manufacture of explosives, and RA 9165 for possession of illegal drugs are being filed against Jimmy and Mohar.

The PNP said Jimmy and Mohar, along with the confiscated pieces of evidence, were turned over to PDEA 12 while Nasrudin, along with the recovered pieces evidence from his possession, was brought to the M’lang Municipal Police Station.
