DOÑA REMEDIOS TRINIDAD, Bulacan — Five men who were trimming cogon grass in a remote and hilly area in this town were shot dead on Monday morning, police said.
Capt. Eugenio de Ramos, the town’s police chief, said the massacre happened at about 10:30 a.m. in Barangay Camachile. The victims have yet to be identified.
The victims were allegedly hired to clear the grassy area, which is the subject of a land dispute, de Ramos said.
According to investigators, a companion of the victims found the bodies at 11:15 a.m. while delivering their lunch.
De Ramos said a witness living nearby reported hearing gunshots at about 10:30 a.m. No other details were disclosed.
Police were still investigating the incident as of this posting.
