MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it recorded a total of 19,536 COVID-19 infections from July 18 to 24, higher than the previous week’s 14,640.

According to DOH, based on its weekly-released data, this translated to a daily average of 2,791 — 33 percent higher than the previous week’s, which was at 2,091.

The majority of the infections, however, remain mild cases as only 56 or 0.29 percent were tagged as severe or critical.

This brought the total number of severe or critical cases to 666.

Meanwhile, 42 deaths were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll — all of which were backlogs from last year, as early as April 2021 until October 2021.

The data also showed that the non-ICU-bed utilization rate increased from 23.8 percent to 26 percent, while the ICU-bed utilization rate also increased from 18.3 percent to 21.7 percent.

Regarding vaccination progress, fully-vaccinated individuals are now at 71,546,355 (91.61 percent of the target population) after 223,507 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.

On the other hand, individuals with booster shots now total 15,934,251 after 341,718 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.

Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker in its website, as of July 24, the COVID-19 caseload is currently at 3,752,534 nationwide, with 27,116 active infections 3,664,735 recoveries and 60,683 deaths.
