MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Monday assured reliable power transmission services during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s first State of the Nation Address (Sona).
The NGCP said it had activated the special operations of its Overall Command Center to secure power transmission operations and facilities during Marcos Jr.’s Sona later on Monday.
“Our Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) prescribes relevant measures to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities to be affected by emergencies during important national events. NGCP assures the public of reliable power transmission services during this significant event,” it said in a statement.
The NGCP said its critical units – System Operation and Operations and Maintenance – are staffed with line crews, engineers, pilots, maintenance and testing, and other technical personnel positioned strategically to address any possible line disturbances.
The Overall Command Center will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, and the status updates on the substation and transmission line will be released to the public every four hours, it further said.
MarcosJr. is set to deliver his first Sona at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City at 4 p.m., July 25.
The NGCP is a consortium that operates, maintains, and develops the country’s electricity superhighway, which is led by stakeholders Henry Sy Jr. and Roberto Cuyuito. It is also the sole operating asset of Synergy Grid and Development Philippines, Inc. — Nicole Faye Agcaoili, INQUIRER.net intern
