MANILA, Philippines — Afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila as the metropolis holds various events and demonstrations to mark the first state of the nation address of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“The dominant weather system that will likely affect the Philippine archipelago on the State of the Nation’s Address by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be the expected formation of a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) east of the country, which may activate the monsoonal trough,” said Juanito Galang, chief of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather division.

“The National Capital Region (NCR) and the rest of Luzon will have warm and humid weather conditions apart from afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms,” Galang added.

Meanwhile, most parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, according to Galang.
