MANILA, Philippines — A 44-year-old man has stabbed to death his 55-year-old neighbor in Tondo, Manila after the former complained about the noise coming from the latter’s residence.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said Monday that Joel Alejandro confronted his neighbor Cesar Tiodanco in Brgy. 649, Baseco, around 11 p.m. Sunday and grumbled about the loud sound from the victim’s house. It was unclear what kind of noise irked the suspect.
The two argued, during which Alejandro stabbed Tiodanco with a 10-inch kitchen knife on the right side of his chest.
Tiodanco was brought to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police said the sister of the victim, Lina Tiodanco, 59, witnessed the incident and sought the help of their relatives and the police.
Alejandro allegedly tried to escape but was apprehended by police officers patrolling the area.
The case has been turned over to MPD Homicide Commanding Officer Senior Master Sergeant Jero Santos for investigation and filing of appropriate charges under the MPD Memorandum involving murder cases, police added. — Christine Annie Asistio, INQUIRER.net intern
