Julaton loses title; Glenn Donaire wins

ANA “The Hurricane” Julaton failed to defend her WBO female superbantamweight title against the interim belt holder Yesica Patricia Marcos of Argentina when she lost by unanimous decision at the Amphitheater Juan Pablo II in Ciudad San Martín in Mendoza, Argentina.

The Spanish language boxing website notifight.com reported that Marcos survived a second round knockdown to outbox Julaton the rest of the way. The scorecards of the three judges – Jose Roberto Torres (Puerto Rico) – 98-91, Ignacio Robles (Panama) – 96-92, and Cesar Ramos (Puerto Rico) – 98-92, were all in favor of the Argentinian.

Julaton drops to her third career loss at 10W-3L-1D, 1 KO while Marcos improves to 19W-0L-1D, 6 KO’s. Their fight was held March 17 Saturday (Philippine Time).

Meanwhile in Mexico, Glenn “Boyet” Donaire won the vacant WBC Latino super flyweight title against Omar Salado of Mexico at the Auditorio Plaza Condesa, Mexico City. The website fightnews.com reported that Donaire built an early lead, then withstood a late rally by Salado to win 116-112, 118-111, 115-113.

Donaire improves to19W-4L-1D, 10 KO’s while Salado drops to 23W-5L-2D, 14 KO’s. Salado is a former world title challenger and was stopped in seven rounds by Roman Gonzales of Nicaragua last year in his attempt to win the WBA light flyweight title.
