MANILA, Philippines – Three minors and two adults — all alleged high-value drug suspects — were arrested during the raid of a drug den in General Santos City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a statement on Thursday, PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said police raided the drug den in Barangay (village) Conel on Wednesday.
According to Danao, one of the three minors claimed to be 15 years old, while two others said they are 16 years old.
The PNP identified the two adults arrested as Alnora Abapo, 23, and John Mark Zamora Abapo, 22.
Agents from the General Santos City Police District, the Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency seized plastic sachets from the drug den containing suspected shabu or crystal meth and various drug paraphernalia.
The minors were referred to social workers, while complaints for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being prepared by the police.
“Drug education is really vital in shaping the awareness of today’s youth. This is a sad case wherein younger members of the society are involved in this illegal business,” Danao said.
“Let’s contribute towards building a brighter and safer future for the next generation,” he added. – Christine Annie Asistio, INQUIRER.net intern
