Private schools welcome ‘blended learning’ policy

The Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations of the Philippines (Cocopea) welcomed President Marcos’ decision to use ‘blended learning’ modality in certain areas and further reiterated the group’s appeal to let them implement hybrid learning for private schools. Cocopea managing director Joseph Noel Estrada said in a statement on Thursday that the decision would allow private schools to further enhance their students’ learning experience without compromising their safety. The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition also expressed support for Mr. Marcos’ decision to allow blended learning to continue in certain areas, noting that it was an indication that the administration was aware of the situation on the ground and current state of the schools. Classes for the school year 2022-2023 are scheduled to begin on Aug. 22 with a transition period of up to Oct. 31. —JANE BAUTISTA
