LUCENA CITY—A motorcycle rider died Wednesday in a freak road mishap in Batangas City, police said on Thursday, July 22.
Motorcycle rider Reynaldo Ayaton, 33, overtook at 9:20 p.m. the truck running ahead of him on its right side along the highway in Barangay Sampaga, the Batangas police said.
While overtaking, the motorcycle wheels caught on a dangling cable wire, causing the vehicle and rider to fall on the pavement and run over by the right rear wheels of the truck.
The truck sped off after the incident. The identity of its driver is still unknown.
Ayaton died while being taken to Jesus of Nazareth Hospital.
The police are conducting investigations to identify the truck driver.
