MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Security Group (PSG) is already at the “final stages” of preparations for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (Sona) set on Monday, July 25.
Acting PSG commander Col. Ramon Zagala on Wednesday said the agency has been preparing for Marcos’ Sona since last week and has coordinated with other security agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“We at PSG are prepared, in coordination with the PNP, so that everything will run smoothly from the moment he [Marcos] arrives, he delivers the SONA, until he returns to the Malacañang Palace,” Zagala told reporters.
“We’re in the final stages of preparation,” he added.
Zagala declined to reveal how many PSG personnel will be deployed during the Sona. However, he said it would be “enough” to protect the President, the First Family, and the guests.
He also declined to reveal the schedule of the President during that day.
As has become tradition, Marcos will deliver his first Sona at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
