P700K shabu seized in separate anti-drug stings in Las Piñas, Muntinlupa
MANILA, Philippines — A 16-year-old male was among the two suspects arrested during separate anti-drug operations in Las Piñas City and Muntinlupa City where over 100 grams of crystal meth or shabu had been seized, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Tuesday.
According to reports from SPD, the child in conflict with the law (CICL) identified as a certain “John” was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by Mandaluyong Police’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) at the PNR Site, Purok 4 in Barangay Alabang early Tuesday morning.
Police officers managed to seize one small sachet, four medium-size sachets, and three large sachets with the suspected shabu inside and the P1,000 bill used as marked money.
All in all, police said the shabu confiscated from the minor weighed around 50 grams, which is estimated to carry a street value of P340,000.
Before that operation, a male suspect identified as Paul Monfort was also arrested by Las Piñas City Police’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit.
Article continues after this advertisementReports from SPD stated that Monfort, considered as a high-value target, was nabbed by operatives at Barangay Talon 4, Las Piñas. Obtained from the suspect were two small sachets and two medium-size sachets with suspected shabu inside, weighing a total of 55.3 grams.
Article continues after this advertisementThe shabu seized from Monfort was said to be worth P376,040. Aside from the illegal drugs, a blue pouch and the P500 bill used as marked money were recovered by the cops.
SPD said the arrested individuals are now under the custody of the arresting units, while the illegal substances were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg commended the police officers for the successful drug sting operations.
“In order for us to eliminate illegal drugs we need the strong support of the community, I encourage everybody to report any illegal activities in your area so that our police will arrest these law offenders,” he said. With reports from Christine Annie Asistio, INQUIRER.net trainee
