LEGAZPI CITY — A 68-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband on Sunday in Bacacay town in Albay province, police said Monday.

The body of the victim was discovered inside their room at around 10:15 p.m., said Maj. Irvin Bellen, chief of Bacacay police.

Bellen said the unnamed 72-year-old man, who was tagged as the person of interest, was last seen at around 4:30 a.m. while padlocking their room.

“They had no clue why the incident happened because they just thought the couple went for a walk or attended a Sunday Mass,” Bellen said.

He said the family already wondered why their parents were not home yet that night, so they decided to forcefully open the room and discovered the victim, who was wounded in her face.

Initial investigation said the victim was likely beaten up with a hard object that caused her death. The family did not hear any commotion the night before the incident.

The police conducted a hot pursuit operation to arrest the person behind the killing. INQ
