2 drown in Zambales beach

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A man and his niece were found dead on Saturday, July 16, in San Narciso town in Zambales province after they went missing Friday, July 15, while swimming in San Miguel beach here, police said in a report.

The drowned victims identified as Ederson Cabral, 36, and Ashley Ren Dela Cruz, 15, both residents of Calumpit town in Bulacan province, were swept away by huge waves at the San Miguel beach at around 4 p.m. Friday, the Zambales police reported.

The body of Cabral was found in the beach area in nearby San Narciso town at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Four hours later, the body of Dela Cruz was also found.

Three other relatives — Wendell Dela Cruz, 24; Aizher De Leon, 19; and Aeron De Leon, 15 — were also swept away by the waves but were rescued by residents in the area.
