LUCENA CITY—An alleged drunken male pedestrian died Thursday, July 14, after a passing Philippine National Railway train hit him in this city.

The Quezon police said in a report Friday that a San Pablo City-bound train driven by Aldren Delos Santos, 41, bumped at 5:05 a.m. an unidentified male walking along the side of the railroad track in Barangay Ibabang Iyam.

The victim fell on the side of the track, prompting the train driver to stop the locomotive.

Hare Lord Lavadia, PNR train marshal, brought the victim to the Quezon Medical Center for treatment, but the man died six hours later.

The police were investigating the incident, but cited in their report that “possible liquor intoxication of the victim” could have led to the tragedy. INQ
