2 traffic aides shot dead, 1 hurt in Rizal province

LUCENA CITY—Two traffic enforcers were shot and killed and another one seriously injured over an alleged traffic altercation on Thursday, July 14, in Cardona town in Rizal province.

The Police Regional Office 4-A said in a report that Gil Tancingco, Marcial Julian, and Kevin Jerome Cruz, were performing their duties at 4:15 a.m. at the national road in Barangay Real, when two riders aboard a motorcycle without a plate number arrived.

The back-rider alighted and drew his handgun and shot the victims.

The gunman and his cohort fled towards Binangonan town, leaving Tancingco and Julian dead from fatal gunshot wounds.

Cruz was taken to the Morong provincial hospital for treatment.

In a phone interview, case investigator Police Staff Sergeant Lediboy Tamares said the motorcyclists were earlier accosted by the victims for a traffic violation. Tamares did not give details.

The police are conducting investigation to unmask and arrest the killers.
