Ikea recalls ‘bursting’ espresso maker
MANILA, Philippines — Ikea Philippines has recalled a defective espresso maker that sometimes bursts when used and customers will be given a full refund without the need to present proof of purchase.
The famous Swedish brand, in an advisory posted on the Department of Trade and Industry website, told customers to return their purchased Metallisk espresso maker with batch codes between 2040 and 2204 for safety purposes.
“Bursting” incidents happen when “the water is blocked from traveling through the coffee ground into the upper container,” it noted.
There have been 13 reports of bursting from South Korea, France, Finland, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and Romania since last year.
The bursting incidents resulted in four injuries in France, Poland, and Canada.
