MANILA, Philippines — Seven drug suspects were arrested and P340,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from them in buy-bust operations in Quezon City and Valenzuela on Wednesday, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The seven suspects, one of them a minor, will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In Valenzuela, the operation was conducted at 1 a.m. in Malinta by members of the city’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The team arrested four suspects identified as Angelica Amosona, 29; John John Balila, 22; Joven Malasta, 30; and Emmanuel Ibanez, 20.
They seized from the suspects 15 grams of illegal drugs (unspecified in the NCRPO report) worth P102,000, along with five 100-peso bills that were used as buy-bust money and four other 100-peso bills.
In Quezon City, the operation was conducted at 2 a.m. in Greater Fairview by members of the city’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit.
The team arrested Rommel Manuel, 20, of Barangay Commonwealth; Jolina Minguin, 22, of Barangay Holy Spirit; and a 17-year-old minor.
The police officers seized from them two bricks of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. They weighed about 2 kilograms with an estimated value of P240,000.
They also seized a mobile phone, P1,000 used as buy-bust money, nine 1,000-peso bills used as boodle money, and four 100-peso bills suspected as proceeds from the suspects’ transactions.
The drugs seized in both operations were transported to their respective forensic units for laboratory examination.
Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, NCRPO chief, lauded the cops for the arrests.
“I commend the unwavering efforts of our team in our intensified campaign against illegal drugs and high-value personalities. Team NCRPO will continue to intensify its anti-illegal drugs operation to apprehend more drug personalities in the region,” Natividad said in a statement.
