MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will preside over the second Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Palace announced Monday.

The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) said Marcos would attend the meeting via teleconferencing as he continues his isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will hold his second cabinet meeting tomorrow, July 12. As he is still in mandatory isolation, PBBM will be joining and presiding over the meeting via teleconferencing,” the OPS said in an advisory.

Press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced on July 8 that Marcos tested positive for COVID-19. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that Marcos would be in isolation for seven days from when he tested positive.

On July 10, Cruz-Angeles echoed Marcos’ physician Dr. Samuel Zacate who said that the president has only mild symptoms with “no fever, no loss of taste and smell sensation.”

Malacañang has yet to release an update regarding Marcos’ health condition despite requests from the media on Monday.
