LPA, ‘habagat’ bring scattered rains over PH — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The combined forces of the low pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will bring scattered rains in several parts of the country on Sunday, the state weather agency reported.
The LPA was spotted at 685 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or at 690 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes at 3 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
“Ito pong low pressure area sa ngayon ay mababa pa rin ang tsansa na maging bagyo. Ngunit patuloy pa rin natin itong mino-monitor dahil po nasa karagatan pa itong low pressure area,” Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran said during the public weather forecast.
(This low pressure area currently has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression. But we are still monitoring it while it is still at sea.)
The LPA will cause overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

Aside from this LPA, Pagasa is also monitoring another LPA, which has no effect on the country’s weather, that is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Article continues after this advertisementThe same weather condition, but due to the habagat, will be experienced over Mimaropa (Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
“Nananatiling habagat pa rin ang nagdadala or nagdudulot ng mga pag-ulan sa kanlurang bahagi po ng ating bansa,” Duran said.
(Habagat remains to bring rains in the western part of the country.)
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.
Moreover, no gale warning is raised on the country’s seaboards as waves will be slight to moderate except in the western seaboard which will be moderate to rough due to the southwest monsoon.
