BOC seizes smuggled agri products worth P15M in Misamis Oriental

MANILA, Philippines – Some P15 million worth of smuggled agricultural products were seized in Misamis Oriental, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported Friday.

The BOC said five containers of smuggled agricultural products were seized during a physical examination at the Mindanao International Container Terminal Services Inc. (MICTSI) yard in Misamis Oriental on Thursday, July 7.

The shipments arrived from China on July 2 and were declared as “autolyzed yeast in powder form,” the BOC said in a statement.

It was consigned to a certain Primex Export and Import Producer.

The bureau said that upon inspection, however, the shipments contained red onions, white onions, and carrots with an estimated value of P15 million.

The BOC said the shipments violated Republic Act 10863 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act for misdeclaration of goods.  – Christine Annie Asistio, INQUIRER.net intern
