MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines – Diliman (UPD) has committed to look into yet another claim of hazing-related violence by a university fraternity.
This came after the UPD University Student Council urged the Office of Student Ethics to “conduct fact-finding and investigation” into the alleged hazing incidents, which earlier circulated through graphic photos and videos posted by the now-suspended Twitter account @UPSILONLEAKS.
In a statement issued Thursday, UPD Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo said the university “strongly condemns and reiterates its stand against fraternity-related violence.”
“Although no UPD student has been identified or implicated in any of the photos or videos, the appropriate units of the university will work to look into the matter and coordinate with student organizations to verify information,” he further noted.
Nemenzo stressed anew that violators of the UPD Student Code and the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 will be held liable.
