Glenn Donaire fights Salado tomorrow

07:16 AM March 16, 2012

GLENN Donaire, the older brother of WBO superbantamweight champion Nonito Donaire, will fight in Mexico this Saturday (Philippine Time) against Omar Salado for the vacant WBC Latino superflyweight title.

Donaire arrived in Mexico on March 14 with his father/trainer Nonito Donaire Sr.

Donaire (18W-4L-1D, 10 KOs) was inactive for more than three years since he lost to Ulises Solis of Mexico by unanimous decision. He had a successful ring comeback last December where he stopped Alex Sanchez in eight rounds. Glen has also suffered losses in his career to Z Gorres and Vic Darchinyan.

Salado (24W-4L-2D, 14 KOs) was stopped in seven rounds by Roman Gonzales of Nicaragua last year in his attempt to win the WBA light flyweight title. But he bounced back by beating Ramon Pena in three rounds last February.

The Donaire-Salado clash will be held at the Auditorio Plaza Condesa in Mexico City. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
