COTABATO CITY — A field commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was killed in an ambush by still unidentified gunmen on Wednesday, July 6, in Datu Hofer town in Maguindanao.
Lt. Billy Fontanilla, Datu Hofer police chief, identified the victim as Iskak Amil, 59, who was aboard a motorbike driven by a subordinate when gunmen positioned on both sides of the road in Barangay Tuayan Mother, opened fire at past 10 a.m.
Amil died on the spot while the gunmen spared his driver.
Police investigators found empty shells of M-14 and M-16 rifles at the crime scene.
Amil was locked in a “rido” or clan feud with another Moro family in Datu Hofer town.
