Manila, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is now gone but the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rains in several parts of the country on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the LPA last spotted 365 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar dissipated at 11 pm on Tuesday.

“Kagabi ng alas onse yung low pressure area na minomonitor natin dito sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas ay nag-dissipate na o nalusaw na at wala na tayong minomonitor na sama ng panahon na maaaring makaapekto sa ating bansa,” Castañeda said in a public weather forecast.

(Yesterday, at 11 pm, the low pressure area that we were monitoring here in the eastern part of Visayas has dissipated and we are not monitoring any weather disturbance that will affect our country.)

“At sa kasalukuyan din, itong Intertropical Convergence Zone o ITCZ ang patuloy na umiiral sa bahagi ng Southern Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao kung saan expect pa din natin na magdudulot ito ng mga kalat kalat na pag-ulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat,” Castañeda added.

In an advisory, Pagasa said the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan, Bicol Region, the entire Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga Region and Zamboanga Peninsula.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience a fair weather condition with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ, Pagasa also said.

Castañeda, however, said that there is still a possibility that an LPA will form inside the PAR since the ITCZ is still active.

Meanwhile, Castañeda said the state meteorologist did not raise a gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.
