LPA may form inside ITCZ affecting Visayas, Mindanao – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) may form within the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which may approach Visayas and Mindanao in the next two to three days.

This was the latest forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which also said that the ITCZ is currently affecting the Visayas region, bringing cloudy skies and rain to the area.

“Bagama’t walang inaasahang bagyo ay posibleng may isang LPA na mabuo sa loob ng ITCZ at inaasahan na posible itong lumapit dito sa Visayas at Mindanao area sa susunod na dalawa hanggang tatlong araw,” Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez said Monday.

(Although no typhoon is expected, an LPA is likely to form within the ITCZ and it is expected that it will approach the Visayas and Mindanao area in the next two to three days.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are predicted to experience generally fair weather on Tuesday, save for possible rain showers by the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.

Back to the ITCZ, Pagasa said it may still cause rain and overcast skies over the entire Visayas on Tuesday, while hot and humid weather may prevail over Mindanao, although chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening are also likely.

No gale warning was also raised within the country’s surrounding coasts and in-land seas, but Perez warned of moderate to rough sea conditions in the seaboards of Northern and Western Luzon.
